The Las Palmas Restaurant at Los Lagos Hotel, Spa & Resort looks directly onto the rainforest. It is a roomy, comfortable place that invites you to sit back and enjoy Costa Rica cuisine, featuring the countrys most typical meals: "gallo pinto", which is included in our notoriously plentiful breakfast; or the famous "casado"; as well as a very wide selection of international dishes. From the comfort of your table you can experience the proximity of the rainforest and the wonderful bird watching that will provide excellent photo opportunities. In our roomy Las Palmas Restaurant you can taste a very wide selection of dishes, from Costa Rica and around the world. Our menu offers seafood and grilled meats with exotic tropical sauces. Our breakfast buffet is one of the most plentiful you may find in the Arenal area, featuring Costa Rican typical meals, ham, cheese, cereals, several kinds of bread, tropical fruit, coffee, orange juice (and juice from seasonal fruits as well) and a very opportune omelet station.
You may choose among fresh tilapia, salmon, trout, tuna, prawns, lobster or shrimp and sample export quality meat cuts, among which the "Lomito Las Palmas Mar y Tierra" (surf and turf steak) is really superb.
In true Costa Rican fashion, you can try a "Gallo Pinto" ("spotted rooster") for breakfast: a rice and black beans spiced (coriander, garlic, onions & pepper) mix, accompanied with sweet ripe plantain, eggs, cheese, toast and the excellent Costa Rican coffee.
For lunch or dinner , our traditional menu includes the "Casado"; ("married meal"), prepared with unmixed rice and beans, the meat of your choice (chicken, fish, beef) and vegetables. The latter may be served in "Ensaladas" (salads of tomato, lettuce or cabbage, cucumber and beet) or in "Picadillos", which are meat and vegetable combinations where one or more vegetables (like chayote, pumpkin, potatoes, squash or tuber roots) are chopped, mixed with meat and garnished with the same spices mentioned before.
Natural beverages are prepared from tropical fruits: cantaloupe, blackberry, watermelon, mango, tamarind, passion fruit (maypop), guanabana (soursop), pineapple, papaya, banana, cas, etc.; blended with water or milk.
The vicinity of the rainforest ensures that you are not the only visitor coming over to enjoy a Costa Rican meal. While you dine, you way witness a few visits to our bird feeder, almost within arms reach, for great pictures. You can see several hummingbird species, colored tanagers, robins, woodpeckers and honeycreepers, among others; even the Collared Aracari and the occasional Rainbow-billed Toucan may show up. Additionally, as a bird watching bonus, a robust Tiger Heron may pose for your camera while resting on the branches of nearby trees, after feeding in the tropical garden.
But it is not all about the food: if you are interested in holding an event or activity for a large number of people, our restaurant can turn into a big hall with a holding capacity of 250 people. We offer two separate wings for better service.
